๐ When Life Doesn’t Go According to Plan
We all make plans for our lives. We plan for our careers, relationships, families, finances, and future. We imagine where we will be in a few years and hope that life will follow the path we have carefully created.
But sometimes, life takes an unexpected turn.
A job opportunity may disappear. A relationship may come to an end. A dream we worked hard for may not come true. We may receive news we never expected or find ourselves standing in a season of life that looks completely different from what we imagined.
When life does not go according to plan, it can leave us feeling disappointed, confused, and afraid. We may ask questions such as:
These questions are deeply human. The Bible does not pretend that life always follows an easy or predictable path. In fact, many people throughout Scripture experienced unexpected changes, painful losses, long periods of waiting, and circumstances they did not understand.
The difficult truth is that we cannot control every part of our journey.
But faith reminds us of something important: an unexpected change in our plans does not mean that God has left us. Sometimes we see only the closed door in front of us, while God may be preparing a path we cannot yet see. Sometimes the season we wanted to avoid becomes a place where we grow stronger, wiser, and more dependent on God.
Trusting God does not mean that we will always understand why something happened. It means that even when the road ahead is unclear, we can continue walking with faith.
“A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9 (KJV)
We may make our plans, but life can change unexpectedly. This verse reminds us that our journey is not ultimately controlled by our ability to predict every outcome.Perhaps life is not going according to your plan right now.
Maybe that is painful. Maybe you are still waiting for answers. And it is okay to admit that you do not understand everything. But you can take the next step.
You can pray.
You can trust.
And even when you cannot see the entire path ahead, you can believe that God is still with you on the journey.
